An RV is great to have around in the summer, when the weather is clear and the roads are wide-open for cross country trips or weekend get aways.  But not all of us have the space in our driveway, yard, or garage to keep an RV at our residence.  What do you do with such a large vehicle in the winter or between adventurous road trips.  Eagle Self Storage is a great place to store and protect your recreational vehicle (RV) when you're not out on the road. We gladly except RVs, both class A and class B – depending on the size of the parking space needed.  At Eagle Self Storage RV storage is limited to outdoor parking spaces which are inside our fully fenced and well lit storage facility. You enter and exit with your RV using your own gate pass code.

The vehicle you intend to store must meet the following requirements:

1.  Must be in running condition or on a trailer.

2. You must show your registration and or title.

3. You are responsible for keeping your RV insured while it is in storage.

When it comes to RV storage, the best thing to do to avoid any missing steps is to make a storage checklist.  Here are a few ideas to get you started: 

1. Inspect and unplug electrical devices and the battery. You want to be sure to include inspecting all devices that could drain your battery.  It could be many different things such as alarms, flashlights, clocks, TV antenna booster's etc.

2. Be sure to close off the gas tank. Propane tanks should be topped off and gas supplies shut off.  Insects are attracted to the odorant added to LP gas. It is a good idea to cover LP – gas appliance vents to prevent insects for making their winter home inside them.

3. Clean out your water tanks. Be sure to empty both the waste water and freshwater tanks at a dump station before storing your RV.  Also be sure to empty toilets and water heaters.  Follow all manufacturers recommendations for adding non-toxic RV antifreeze to kitchen and bathroom plumbing.

4. Routine maintenance: Remember engine maintenance such as changing the oil and filter and topping off all the fluids fluids, checking front and rear radiators,transmission fluid,and air coolers.

5. Remember fuel stabilizer:  You may want to fill the fuel tank to prevent condensation and and fuel stabilizer( based on manufactures instructions). It is a good idea to run the engine run for a little before storing the vehicle so that the fuel stabilizer can circulate.  The stabilizer will make sure the fuel doesn't break down.

6. Be sure to defrost the refrigerator/ freezer and remove any perishables. It is a good idea to prop open the refrigerator/freezer doors to prevent mold from growing.

7. Use an RV cover to protect your RV from dust, sun damage, birds and other animals. Be sure that the cover you use is made of a breathable material.

8. Remove all food from the motorhome when it's being stored to safeguard against rodents.

9. Close windows blinds and shades to minimize heat and sun exposure.  This will help avoid sun exposure to the carpets, drapes and upholstery.

10. When you're cleaning the exterior, inspect all of this roof seems, body seems in window sealant for any cracks or openings that would allow water to get in.

11. Service all moving parts including locks and hinges with spray lubricant. Keeping moving parts properly lubricated also prevents wear reduces the chance of breakdowns.

12. Use tire covers that will block out heat and sunlight. Just like the exterior of a motorhome, the tires can be damaged by harmful UV rays from the sun.
